Concrete Swimming Pool Construction process
Our step by step pool building process. This will help you understand what to expect when we build your swimming pool. We Build swimming pools on the Gold Coast, South of Brisbane, Northern NSW and our process is the same in all areas. We try to maximise your investment, create a family friendly design , increase your property value by putting the pool in the correct location and most of all create you a backyard masterpiece by using the following processes.
pRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION
After you make contact with Empire Pools, Our Pool design team or the Builder himself will arrange a meeting with you. This needs to be at the site where your swimming pool will be installed to discuss your pool ideas & how best to create your new swimming pool / entertaining area.
At the on-site meeting we will firstly want to ascertain the access, take measurements so we understand what machinery sizing is required & or needed to determine an excavation allowance/costing. We will look at your soil type, ground conditions, neighbours fences, existing retaining walls (if any) & your structures/patios/house walls nearest to the new pool location all of which can determine where best to build the pool in a safe and practical manner. This may have cost savings or add additional costs etc etc.
We will want to locate your homes mains Power box / Telstra / fibre optic cables and where that mains power cable location joins to the street power box / Telstra box ( Mostly for front yard pools.) If any of these services need to be re-located it can be done when digging the pool at a cost forwarded to you. Does the property have any easements, sewer or stormwater & sewer inspection pits all of which can restrict you your desired pool location due to local council laws and the certification process.
We can then prepare a pool design and quote for you.
Once you are satisfied with your pool design and accepted our quotation, we will prepare & email you a master pool builders Edocs contract which has all your quotation inclusions. This contract & all its terms & conditions can be signed online. Once completed it will email all signed copies back to our office & you will receive your invoices for the deposit and the next process commences.
BUILDING YOUR CONCRETE SWIMMING POOL
We submit your design and specifications to our engineer. The engineer will prepare plans for your new pool design. Once completed we will then submit them directly to our private certifier. When we receive your approved pool plans the Builder or our pool supervisor will call you directly to arrange an onsite meeting to start scheduling a suitable start date
EXCAVATION
This excavation is an exciting time for the kids as well as the adults. Everyone loves big machinery, and you will be able to watch your backyard take the shape of your new swimming pool right before your eyes. We make it look easy, but it takes a lot of time and experience along with a lot of hard work to gain the knowledge and ability to do what we do. Once the excavators have left the pool steel reinforcement starts being placed.
BOX AND STEEL FORMWORK
This process take approximately 1-2 days depending on your pool size. Pool Steel fixers utilise the various techniques that are required in bending and forming the steel to the shape of your new swimming pool.

INTERNAL POOL PLUMBING
The pool plumbing is what maintains the circulation system. Installing all the pipework into the structure as well as the skimmer & mandarin. All flowing systems that are requested according to your design will be installed at this time, such as therapy jets, deck jets, water features and any heating provision pipes & suctions.This process can take anywhere from 3 hrs to 2 days depending on the complexity of your chosen inclusions
CONCRETE SHELL FORMATION
The next three days of the pool construction process, is the pressurized concrete that is placed and sculpted according to your individual design. Our craftsman are skill in handling the heavy equipment that it takes to gather the concrete and then shape your pool, spa, and even the steps to your pool.
POOL TILING & COPING
Tiling of the interior of a pool can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks, again depending on the complexity and size of swimming pool. Whilst the coping tiles typically take 1 to 2 days to lay.
POOL FILTRATION INSTALLATION
Our Pool plumber will complete the installation of your filtration. Everything will be set in place and PURAPOOL the sanitiser will be mounted on the wall
PEBBLE INTERIOR
Once your pool fencing requirements are completed and approved by the certifier, the pool interior will be completed. Our Pebble crete interiors are usually acid washed in the afternoons however if your pool is completed late afternoon it will be acid washed the next morning. You will need to leave a hose on site as once the pebble crete is acid washed they will put your hose in the pool and the pool will start filling.
POOL HANDOVER & COMPLETION
Our technicians will conduct run-through of the entire system to ensure that it’s fully operational, they’ll help you understand all the details involved in maintaining the pool. This includes explaining all the features, addressing any queries you might have and explaining periodic cleaning and maintenance requirements.
